Stephen King has confirmed that The Dark Tower will (finally) be brought to the big screen with JJ Abrams (creator of Lost) at the healm.

This news is both awesome and foreboding.

It's awesome because the Dark Tower series was an amazing journey and I loved each and every volume.

But turning a seven book series into a movie (or hopefully MOVIES) will be a mammoth task; I worry wether or not they will be able to create a product that does justice to the franchise for the millions of fans around the world...?

Fingers crossed.

Or at least that's what I've gathered from the trailer.

Add lots of guns, car chases and Motley Crue.

Zeitgeist: The Movie - Mini Review

Ok so I've now watched/listened to the entire movie and I have to say it's pretty compelling.

I should probably preface this entry by saying that I'm not a very religious person. I'm not really an atheist either. I guess I believe in the concept of karma (which is really just Newton's 3rd law of motion) and that the bible and any other religious texts are just collections of stories designed to help teach morals. As opposed to the literal and precise accounts of once living human beings who essentially had supernatural powers and could communicate with the dead - like Jennifer Love Hewitt.

I've also read a lot of Tom Clancy books and thought to myself many a time whilst reading; this probably could happen...

Anyway. So having established my views on religion and my openness to the possibility of global conspiracies it seems that I was probably a prime candidate for Zeitgeist: The Movie.

It's important to note though that many of the sources referenced in the movie - apparently - cannot be verified. So much so that the Wikipedia article for the movie was deleted which I find very strange. Given this I took the liberty of ingesting one very large spoonful of salt before watching.

Still it was a compelling two hours.

I don't *quite* agree with all of the assertions made in the film. Namely that all national borders and currency will one day dissolve and that our governments will physically implant us with RFID chips to track our every move. But there are some excellent questions asked and some inferences made that do seem quite plausible.

So my one paragraph review? Watch it and see for yourself. The parallels drawn between Egyptian paganism and Christianity are very interesting. The questions as to what happened to the plane that hit the pentagon on 9/11 and why the footage has never been released is also quite valid regardless of whether or not you subscribe to the conspiracy theories.

The lack of credible references is unfortunate but as the author says on the movies web site "It is my hope that people will not take what is said in the film as the truth, but find out for themselves, for truth is not told, it is realized".

Jack Black magnetises himself (somehow) and accidentally wipes all of the (VHS) tapes in the video rental store where his best friend Mos Def works. Instead of buying replacement tapes the two guys decide to remake the movies themselves in order to save the business.

Knocked Up has instantly entered my top 10(ish) favourite comedies along with Anchorman, Talledega Nights, Harold & Kumar et al.

Trawling youtube for deleted scenes and out-takes I came across a video of Jude Apatow and Seth Rogen talking about a mockumentary they created whilst filming Knocked Up. The premise being that Seth was actually Jude's 10th choice to play the lead male character of Ben Stone after 9 other actors get fired from the role.

One of the actors who "didn't make the cut" is Michael Cera from Arrested Development. Here he is "suposedly" butting heads with Jude Apatow,.. and subsequently losing his job on Knocked Up.
